1988 Lincoln Penny : A Collector’s Guide.

The 1988 Lincoln Penny was minted in three locations: Philadelphia (no mintmark) Denver (“D” mintmark) San Francisco (“S” mintmark), which struck only proof coins.

1988 Reverse of 1989 (Wide AM): This rare variety occurs when the coin was struck using a reverse die intended for 1989. The spacing between the letters "A" and "M" in "AMERICA" on the reverse is wider, making this variety highly sought after.

Collectibility – The 1988 Reverse of 1989 variety is the most exciting aspect for collectors. – Proof coins from San Francisco are also desirable for their mirror-like finish and sharp details.

Storage and Care – Store circulated and uncirculated coins in archival-quality holders or flips to prevent tarnishing. – Proof coins should remain in their original mint packaging or be placed in airtight capsules for preservation.
