The Journey of KD: From the Seattle Super Sonics to the Phoenix Sun
Kevin Durant’s journey through the NBA has been nothing short of remarkable, spanning multiple franchises and cementing his legacy as one of the game’s greatest scorers.
Drafted second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007, Durant showcased his elite scoring ability in his rookie season before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder.
In OKC, Durant evolved into a perennial All-Star, winning the 2014 NBA MVP and leading the Thunder to the 2012 NBA Finals alongside Russell Westbrook and James Harden.
However, after years of playoff heartbreak, Durant made a controversial move in 2016 by signing with the Golden State Warriors, forming a juggernaut alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
His tenure in Golden State was highly successful, resulting in back-to-back NBA championships in 2017 and 2018, with Durant earning Finals MVP honors both times.
Injuries hampered his third season, culminating in a torn Achilles during the 2019 Finals, leading him to leave the Warriors and join the Brooklyn Nets.
Teaming up with Kyrie Irving, Durant aimed to bring a title to Brooklyn, but injuries and off-court turmoil derailed their ambitions, ultimately leading to a mid-season trade in 2023 to the Phoenix Suns.
Proving that even after multiple team changes, he remains one of the most dominant and resilient players in NBA history, adapting and excelling wherever his journey takes him.
