Tornado Season Outlook: What’s in Store for the USA’s Most Storm-Prone Regions? 

The first significant tornado outbreak of 2025 occurred on January 5, affecting parts of the central and southern United States.  

La Niña Conditions: The presence of La Niña conditions may influence tornado patterns, but the exact impact is not yet clear. 

Tornado Hotspots: Regions such as Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee are expected to remain tornado-prone areas throughout the season. 

Severe Weather Outlook: Meteorologists are closely monitoring atmospheric conditions to predict severe weather events, including tornadoes, across the United States.  

Preparedness: Residents in tornado-prone regions are advised to stay informed through local weather services and have emergency plans in place to ensure safety during severe weather events. 

This outbreak included at least 12 tornadoes, with the strongest being an EF2 tornado in Union Parish, Louisiana. 

As of January 2025, the tornado season in the United States is underway, with early activity observed in January.
